DIY Whipped Everything Balm

I'm all about natural body care, from toothpaste to shampoo the less chemicals, additives and unnecessary ingredients the

better. I used to deal with pretty severe acne, changing up the food I consumed as well as the products I used on my body were key to my clear skin success, you can read more about that here. Ever since, I've been all about DIY products, not only is it fun and normally more cost effective but the products are so much better for your body. Here is my recipe for an everything balm, which means you can use it to moisturize your lips, face, legs, arms, well you know, your whole body! You can even eat it - it does smell like chocolate! ;)

You'll need: 1 cup of cocoa butter 1/2 cup of olive oil 1 tbsp vitamin E oil 1 tsp cornstarch 1/2 cup almond oil (can use coconut oil) 10 drops of peppermint essential oil (optional)

Method:

In a double boiler (I used a pot of boiling water and a glass measuring cup) melt your cocoa butter.

Once it's completely melted, remove from heat and add in everything else.

Whip the ingredients together with a hand blender to ensure it is well combined.

Place your bowl of oil in the freezer. Check on it ever 5 minutes, you want a not too hard not too soft consistency. 10 minutes seems to be around the magic time. If you can put your finger into it with a slight pressure it should be good.

Remove from the freezer and start to whip your homemade butter. Once thoroughly whipped, place in a jar and you have some everything balm! A quick note about this balm, it will be a little hard, however once it is applied to your skin it will melt instantly, like butter to a pan. It is not greasy. Hope you like it! :)
