Let's Talk Salad Dressings + Recipe

Who else loves a good salad? I adore big delicious bowls full of fresh veggies, fruits, nuts and sometimes grains. Dressing up your salad should make your it even more nutritious! Store bought dressings often have refined sugars, low quality oils, flavour enhancers, artificial flavours and colourings. Making your own dressing is SO easy! This is why you should skip the bottled stuff and make your own:

1) When you make your own dressing it is made fresh with real whole ingredients. Your list of ingredients isn't a paragraph long with ingredients that contains numbers! (yay!) 2) You get to skip the preservatives, unlike the ones in the stores that can sit on the shelves for months.

3) You can control the ingredients and therefore the quantity of salt, sugar and oil you add into your dressing!

4) You avoid any additives that are in store bought dressings such as thickeners, flavours and colourings. When a salad doesn't separate into two layers like oil and water normally do, then you know for sure there is an additive in the bottle to keep it from separating.

5) Making your own dressing is cheaper and fun! You can make so much more with your own ingredients. Not only that but you can create your own fun combinations of flavours! To make a basic dressing all you need is oil and vinegar. I love using avocado, tahini, garlic, nutritional yeast, lemon, lime, nut butters and fruit in my homemade dressings.

Here is my delicious Strawberry Balsamic Dressing recipe! 1/4 cup Carmelina oil (use any oil you'd like)

2 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp balsamic vinegar

5 strawberries

1 tsp tahini Blend it up! Stores well in a closed container for 3-4 days.
